Employee Spotlight: Chris J.

So Chris graciously accepted our nomination for this employee spotlight.  Read on to get to know him better.

Q: What do you do at work? What is your job title and who do you work with? Anything fun/interesting you’re working on?

A: I’m a Computer Systems Administrator and Local Support Technician. My team is responsible for an interesting and high priority group of people. I much prefer working on tasks rather than incident tickets. It’s always more fun to fulfill a request for something.  The customer is happy it’s being done. It’s a little like Christmas and I get to be Santa. Incidents tickets though, the user is frustrated because something isn’t working correctly and whereas I like being able to get them running again and alleviating some of that frustration. It’s much more fun to be Santa. LOL

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your personal time? Are you involved in any community activities?

A: I’m in charge of the Audio/Visual team at my church. I’m there a lot tweaking and improving how we run the sound, record and stream video or display presentations on the projectors and TVs around the campus. We get a lot of thank-you’s from people who watch the services online when they can’t be there and it gives me a sense of satisfaction to know that I’m making a small difference in someone’s life.

I also enjoy doing handyman work as a second job using the TAKL app; Putting furniture together, installing ceiling fans, replacing sump pumps, Garage door openers, drywall… you name it I can probably do it. I’ve renovated quite a few rooms in my own house and have more projects planned, specifically going to be doing a master bathroom remodel here in the near future, doing all or at least most of the work myself.

Q: What’s your personality like?

A: I’ve been told I’m easy going and funny. I tend to be a peacemaker, not exactly a “yes man” but I like to pick my battles as they say and I tend not to stress over disagreements that aren’t that important. I’m rather OCD with most things though and tend to want to control how tasks are accomplished.

Q: What’s your favorite type of music?

A: Classical

Q: What’s your favorite book(s)?

A: The Count of Monte Cristo – by Alexander Dumas

Q: Where is your dream place to travel?

A: Stavanger, Norway

Q: If you could talk to any person (past or present), who would it be?

A: Audrey Hepburn. Wonderful Actress, beautiful lady in every sense of the phrase and a great humanitarian.

Q: You have a weekend free of any obligations. What do you do?

A: I have no idea.  I don’t think those kind of weekends really exist.  LOL

Q: Would you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert?

A: I’m more introvert than anything but I’m much less introvert than I used to be when I was young.

Q: Are you a huge fan of anything (sports team, TV show, movie series, etc.)?

A: I enjoy SciFi shows and movies and Love Star Wars (but not fanatically, LOL)

Q: Who was the most influential person in your life?

A:  My Mom (Dad is a close second)

Q: What’s your favorite word?

A: Delineate (always tried to use it in every Navy evaluation I ever wrote, LOL)

Q: What’s your least favorite word?

A: Bae (drives me nuts when I hear it or see it written)
