Employee Spotlight: Steve A.
This time around, Steve volunteered to give our spotlight a go. Check out his responses below to learn a bit more about him.
Q: What do you do at work? What is your job title and who do you work with? Anything fun/interesting you’re working on?
A: I joined ESi in June of 2010 as a Program Manager & Hiring Manager. I lead a team of highly skilled System Administrators, Software Engineers, & System Engineers supporting our customer at Fort Meade.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your personal time? Are you involved in any community activities?
A: I enjoy running (5K distance normally) and I really enjoy history and traveling. I often spend huge amounts of time learning about where I’m traveling to, and putting together a very detailed itinerary to ensure a smooth & enjoyable vacation.
Q: Would you like to talk about your family? Or any big life events that have come up or are coming up soon?
A: I am engaged to be married to my fiancé, Angela and between us, we have three children. Nathan (my son) graduated high school about 2 weeks ago and will be attending the University of West Florida this autumn, Troy (Angela’s son) is finishing up his junior year in high school, and Sophia (Angela’s daughter) is finishing up her sophomore year in high school.
Q: What has been life’s biggest challenge/the hardest thing you’ve ever done?
A: I grew up in small town Indiana and while I wouldn’t have wanted to grow up any other way, I knew living there was not my life’s ambition. I made a decision to join the United States Navy shortly after high school, something no one in my family had ever done. It was scary, but it turned out to be the best professional decision I’ve ever made.
Q: What are your favorite books?
A: I normally only read non-fiction books; however, I really enjoy reading books written by Dan Brown.
Q: What was your best vacation to date?
A: I’ve been blessed to do a lot of traveling so picking only one is difficult. When I was in the U.S. Navy, I lived in Belgium for 3 years and Spain for 2 years and absolutely loved it.
Q: What is one of your favorite quotes?
A: Do the right thing, ESPECIALLY when no one is looking.
Q: Are you a huge fan of anything (sports team, TV show, movie series, etc.)?
A: Washington Nationals baseball and the Verizon IndyCar series (I was born a HOOSIER, racing is in our blood).
Q: Who was the most influential person in your life?
A: My Mother. I credit her for instilling the values and beliefs at an early age that I possess today.
Thanks for taking the time to tell us more about you, Steve.
Keep an eye out for our next Employee Spotlight soon!
